If you work in a hospital in the West, you probably take suction for granted. In every room, in every operating theater, in every ER bay and ICU bed… there is suction. So if a patient needs tending to in this manner, it’s no problem. You just turn it on at the wall.
Believe it or not, it is not that difficult for us to have centralized suction here at our hospital. In our ICU and in our ORs, we can set up a central suction pump. Then, with some piping, we can run the suction to regulators in each of the desired locations. And then, we’re good to go!
