{"id":1100,"date":"2014-01-28T16:33:49","date_gmt":"2014-01-28T16:33:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.soddo.org\/?p=1100"},"modified":"2014-01-28T16:33:49","modified_gmt":"2014-01-28T16:33:49","slug":"soddo-snakes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.soddo.org\/am\/soddo-snakes\/","title":{"rendered":"Soddo Snakes!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We want to introduce you to Jackson. \u00a0Jackson is nine years old, and lives in Oregon. \u00a0And he has a heart for Ethiopia.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1101\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1101\" style=\"width: 239px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.soddo.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/soddosnakes1.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1101\" alt=\"Jackson with one of his creations.. the &quot;Soddo Snake&quot;.\" src=\"https:\/\/www.soddo.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/soddosnakes1.jpg\" width=\"239\" height=\"320\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1101\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Jackson with one of his creations.. the &#8220;Soddo Snake&#8221;.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Jackson heard about our hospital serving the poor in southern Ethiopia, and wanted to contribute to the cause. \u00a0He knits these adorable multipurpose snakes which he then sells as a fundraiser for US! \u00a0In the words of Jackson&#8217;s mom Bethany <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dreadlockgirl.com\">on her blog<\/a>, &#8220;The smaller snakes are perfect as toys or as special pets. The longer snakes can be wrapped around your neck like a scarf. Soddo Snakes enjoy being draped over your computer screen, placed in your bookshelf, or curled up and displayed in your home.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1102\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1102\" style=\"width: 239px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.soddo.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/soddosnakes2.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1102\" alt=\"soddosnakes2\" src=\"https:\/\/www.soddo.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/soddosnakes2.jpg\" width=\"239\" height=\"320\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1102\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">A sampling of Jackson&#8217;s creations<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We asked Jackson why he wanted to do this, and he replied, &#8220;I did it because I wanted to help the hospital in Soddo, Ethiopia. I read that they need help with food, and medicine and so I decided to make snakes and sell them for Soddo.&#8221; \u00a0Isn&#8217;t that great? \u00a0He reports that it takes him about 1-2 hours to make one, and the red yarn snakes are his favorite.<\/p>\n<p>Jackson is giving every penny he earns from selling the snakes to the Benevolent Fund. \u00a0About this, he said, &#8220;I believe I will help at least one person to get what they need for a few days.
