{"id":1307,"date":"2014-06-26T17:44:18","date_gmt":"2014-06-26T17:44:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.soddo.org\/?p=1307"},"modified":"2014-06-26T17:44:18","modified_gmt":"2014-06-26T17:44:18","slug":"taking-the-mission-beyond-the-hospital","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.soddo.org\/am\/taking-the-mission-beyond-the-hospital\/","title":{"rendered":"Taking the Mission Beyond the Hospital"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>At Soddo Christian Hospital, we are investing in our staff through discipleship. \u00a0And some of them took what they were learning to the Soddo community &#8211; going outside the camp to bring about transformation. \u00a0Here&#8217;s how it happened:<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1309\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1309\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.soddo.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/small-gp.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1309\" src=\"https:\/\/www.soddo.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/small-gp-300x181.jpg\" alt=\"The members of the small group meeting in SCH chapel.\" width=\"300\" height=\"181\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1309\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The members of the small group meeting in SCH chapel.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>While studying the Gospels in their small groups, some of the members\u00a0had an idea: to minister to the prisoners in the local Soddo prison. \u00a0They would share the Gospel and meet practical needs of the people they met. \u00a0Wanting to hear from the Spirit, they took a month to pray, fast, and ask for God&#8217;s guidance in their plans. \u00a0Then, they began to collect donations from individuals as well as the Hospital. \u00a0Those of us working here were more than happy to play our part in seeing these faithful employees live out our mission in Soddo.<\/p>\n<p>On June 7th and 8th, the group ventured into the local prison. \u00a0There were 50 people involved in the ministry. \u00a0 Their efforts reached out to 600 prisoners &#8211; providing medical services, giving out donated medicines and clothing, and sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. \u00a0In those two days, 74 people prayed to receive Jesus as their Savior. \u00a0Among them was a man imprisoned for murder. \u00a0He asked, &#8220;Can God really forgive someone like me?&#8221; \u00a0Yes! \u00a0He repented, and received Christ. \u00a0Praise God!<\/p>\n<p>One of the core beliefs of our hospital is in doing holistic ministry &#8211; sharing with people the salvation found in Jesus combined with practical and excellent medical care. \u00a0This group of ministers sent out from us carried that holistic message to the broader community. \u00a0Fueled and excited by seeing the work of God&#8217;s spirit, they are now planning their next move. \u00a0They plan to try a similar program in some neighboring towns, or possibly to focus on job creation and discipleship training.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1310\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1310\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.soddo.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/Picture1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1310\" src=\"https:\/\/www.soddo.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/Picture1-300x202.jpg\" alt=\"Counseling and sharing the hope of Jesus Christ.\" width=\"300\" height=\"202\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1310\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Counseling and sharing the hope of Jesus Christ.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1311\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1311\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.soddo.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/small-gp2.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1311\" src=\"https:\/\/www.soddo.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/small-gp2-300x201.jpg\" alt=\"Celebrating all of what God did!
