{"id":1463,"date":"2014-09-19T10:02:13","date_gmt":"2014-09-19T10:02:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.soddo.org\/?p=1463"},"modified":"2014-09-19T10:02:13","modified_gmt":"2014-09-19T10:02:13","slug":"neurosurg-at-sch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.soddo.org\/am\/neurosurg-at-sch\/","title":{"rendered":"Neurosurgery at SCH?!?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>What do you think happens when you combine the following:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>A country with the highest number of pedestrians struck by vehicles relative to cars on the road<\/li>\n<li>A brand new CT scanner among a population of 5 million people who previously had none<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If you answered, \u201ca lot of new diagnoses of head trauma\u201d, you\u2019d be right.\u00a0 Our CT scanner is practically smoking with all the head CTs for trauma that are being done.\u00a0 Most of the time, we find non-operative bleeds.\u00a0 But the last two weeks has been extraordinary.\u00a0 In September alone, we have taken seven patients to the OR with epidural and subdural hematomas that required emergency surgery.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.soddo.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/head-bleeds.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1465\" src=\"https:\/\/www.soddo.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/head-bleeds.jpg\" alt=\"head bleeds\" width=\"700\" height=\"700\" \/><\/a>Above are just four of the actual scans done here in the past two weeks.\u00a0 And there are more!\u00a0 We\u2019ve had great outcomes so far, and our surgery residents and staff are doing more emergent neurosurgery than they ever could have imagined.<\/p>\n<p>We praise God that He provided through our donors.\u00a0 Through your generosity, we got a\u00a0CT scanner.\u00a0 And it is being used for His glory as lives are being saved.\u00a0 May the name of Christ go forth in southern Ethiopia as we use this gift.\u00a0 That is our prayer.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What do you think happens when you combine the following: A country with the highest number of pedestrians struck by [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":1466,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_monsterinsights_skip_tracking":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_active":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_note":"","_monsterinsights_sitenote_category":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[74,75,79,81],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-1463","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-medical-care","category-missionary-medicine","category-patient-stories","category-training"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.5 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/product\/yoast-seo-wordpress\/ -->\n<title>Neurosurgery at SCH?!?
