Okay, so we’re not gonna ask you to jackhammer (unless you really want to). \u00a0But one question we do get a lot is:\u00a0“I’m not a doctor. \u00a0Could I still be of any use at the hospital?” \u00a0So here are 12 things that you could do at the hospital if you are not, say, medically inclined…<\/p>\n
1. \u00a0Plumbers & electricians: \u00a0We need all sorts of skilled labor done around the hospital. \u00a0We have septic systems, generators, and a myriad of other equipment that need tending to.<\/p>\n
2. Leadership development: \u00a0Are you a manager or have experience coaching leaders? \u00a0Come and help us train our senior staff at the hospital.<\/p>\n
3. \u00a0Teachers: \u00a0You can teach English at our hospital language school. \u00a0We also have about 15 missionary kids (MK’s) here in addition to our residents’ kids, and they would love a Vacation Bible School or some type of sports camp. \u00a0That means you too, coaches.<\/p>\n
4. Organizers: Are you organized? \u00a0We have loads of equipment and materials that need to be inventoried\/cataloged. \u00a0Come and get your type-A personality fix here!<\/p>\n
5. \u00a0Office computer skills: \u00a0Are you good with Excel? \u00a0Want to host a workshop for our financial people? \u00a0What about Word or other clerical software? \u00a0We have a large administrative staff that you could train.<\/p>\n
6. \u00a0Any IT\/Networking People out there? \u00a0We recently began a network at the hospital, and are running a server and handful of workstations. \u00a0What’s next? \u00a0Come help us figure it out, and figure out ways to run our network better.<\/p>\n
7. \u00a0Prayer partners. \u00a0Would you want to pray with some of our patients? \u00a0Maybe hold a child’s hand before they go into surgery?<\/p>\n
8. \u00a0Babysitters: \u00a0Our missionaries need a break every once and a while. \u00a0Perhaps you could watch their kids, so they can go out for dinner.<\/p>\n
9. \u00a0Artists: \u00a0Want to come and paint some cool murals on our hospital walls? \u00a0Or how about do some art with the patients or the MK’s? \u00a0Give us your ideas, and let’s do it.<\/p>\n
10. \u00a0Chefs\/restauranteurs\/amateur cooks: \u00a0We cook everything here from scratch, so it’s a lot of work! \u00a0How about you come and help teach us and our staff how to prepare simple meals from scratch from our locally available ingredients? \u00a0Or just cook for us, and give us a break with your delicious home-cooked meals!<\/p>\n
11. \u00a0Pastors\/church leaders – Come and work with our chaplains and train\/work alongside them!<\/p>\n
12. \u00a0Anything you want to do! \u00a0– This place is ground-up work, and there are all kinds of tasks to do. \u00a0How has God gifted you? \u00a0Just ask us, and let’s figure out a way to use those gifts here!<\/p>\n
